Doug Harvey, BA, Certified Thanatologist

Doug Harvey comes to Corgenius as an End-of-Life counselor and grief/bereavement specialist.  He has a background in hospice chaplaincy, older adult services and military chaplaincy.  While he is an ordained clergyman, he has spent the majority of his years in health care and hospice programs both in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky and has also taken that expertise into the mental health and long-term care setting.  Doug is certified in Thanatology with the Association for Death Education and Counseling.  

Doug’s military experience spans 25 years and ranges from service as an active duty enlisted Marine to his final ten years as a Chaplain in the Army Reserves including serving in the War On Terror in Kuwait, Iraq, and Qatar with the Third Army in 2003 and 2004.  Doug retired from the Army Reserves in 2006.

Doug is a graduate of The University of North Florida with a degree in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology as well as of Lexington Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.  His clinical training also includes internships at the Veterans Hospital and Hospice of the Bluegrass in Lexington, Kentucky as well as training with St. Matthew‘s Counseling Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  Doug has authored book chapters and articles on grief and loss, has taught classes in Philosophy and Psychology at the undergraduate level and is currently working on his PhD.
